KALAMATA OLIVES

KALAMATA OLIVES

Grown in the typical area of Messenia, in the southern Peloponnese, Kalamata olives take their name from the main city, Kalamata.

They are shaped like squat almonds, dark in color, tending towards purple, which is only obtained when the olives are fully ripe. Their plant differs from other olive trees in the shape of its leaves, which are twice as large as those of other varieties.
